Hands for Hope campaign

The Area News has launched a special campaign - Hands for Hope - to raise awareness about mental illness.

In the coming weeks and months, we will tell the stories of residents touched by mental illness and suicide.

Some will make you uncomfortable, others will inspire you.

We will also call on your support to help lobby the federal government to establish a Headspace centre in Griffith.

This campaign, however, is about more than simply securing a Headspace facility.

It's about starting a long overdue conversation in our community about mental illness and its profound impact.

It's about destigmatising anxiety and depression and recognising we can no longer whisper their names.

Now is the time to find our voice.
