THE Griffith Tuesday night summer tennis competition got off to a flying start with everybody painting a target on The Aggies as the team to beat, with the pre-competition favourites living up to their reputation with an excellent first-up win over The 10's.

Rod Johnson and Barry Haskings led the way for The Aggies winning 6-2, with Renae Rawle and Martin Ruggers winning an even set against Ruth Miner and Michael Scarfone with The Aggies winning comfortably 54 - 34

However, the in-form Schoolies team could be the team to threaten The Aggies and rumour has it some of the team have been seen training in a bid to knock off their arch rivals.

Neil Mahaffey, John Gallagher and Ryland O'Brien dominated the Bronco's men Paul Andreazza, Paul Parese and Daniel Cox.

Heather Lando and Daniel Cox pulled off a surprise win against Karen Howe and Ryland O'Brien, with the final score 57 - 31

The very competitive team of Hardie's Hero were still on a high after the Australian Open with their two would-be Federer's in Ken Cunningham and Peter Tyson showing off their skill against Jack Apps and Josh Murray.

Rosemary Risso, who was spotted in the crowd at the Australian Open carried the fervour, after being heavily involved in both the winning sets won with Brad Grosse, with Risso also teaming with Josh Murray to defeat Peter Tyson and Terrie Hardie, with Hardies Hero's easily winning 52-26.
