Juniors get off to great start in cup

09 Jan, 2012 12:00 AM
GRIFFITH Tennis Juniors made a tremendous start to the Albury, Wodonga tennis cicuit where 700 players are participating at the Margaret Court Cup teams event.

The highly competitive teams event in division one was extremely competitive with the Griffith team of Harry Pascoe, Matt Stewart, Jack Catanzariti, Tavis Bergamin, Chloe Oates, Sophie Tyson, who were runners-up last year just missing out on a semi-finals berth against the strong South Coast team and the highly-fancied ITF team.

All Griffith players relished the opportunity to play against some of the best players from around Australia and overseas as a warm-up to the main tournament.

Division two saw Griffith One team in the final mix after they were first past the post against Albury/Wagga and South Coast.

The team of Dean Burge, Jack Johnstone, Will Kennedy, Jaidyn Dickie, Angus Kennedy, Victoria Toole, Annaliese Quarisa won the coveted Margaret Court plaques by three games from Albury/Wagga.
