Young Guns drew first points when Tavis Bergamin and Mark Dossetor defeated Ariane Ceccato and Tony Roach 6-1.
This was followed up by another win when Maddi Gregor and Jessica Bergamin won 6-4 over Donna Dossetor
and Alex Gilbert.
The third set was played and once again Young Gun’s came up with a win when Bergamin and partner won their set 6-4 over Ariane Ceccato and Will Girdwood.
Shud were in unfamiliar territory as they are used to leading teams at this stage of the match, but instead they found themselves behind by nine points.
The fourth set would have been worth the price of admission as Tony Roach from Shud combined with Donna Dossetor to play Maddi Gregor and Donna’s husband Mark representing Young Guns.
After some frantic tennis the set ended in a draw, with both teams sharing wins in the next four sets but by the eighth set the margin was still nine points.
Shud would have to win the last two sets to have any chance of forcing a win, however both sets went to Young Guns.
The final score was telling with Young Guns scoring 52 games to Shud’s 36.
One wonders what the conversation was like during the car ride back home between Mark and Donna Dossetor with Mark being able to claim bragging rights.
After the resumption of play the winners were congratulated at a small presentation, with special one-off awards going to provider of the best supper, awarded to Plods, while the biggest effort award
went jointly to Spray Balls and Bits and Pieces.
