BUDDING “superfish” from Griffith High School put their skills to the test at their annual carnival, with a host of
impressive times coming from the high-quality day in the pool.
The school also hosted its first biathathlon, with eager
students changing their goggles for their sports shoes, for a two-leg run and swimming race.
Teachers said they will most likely continue this new addition to the swimming carnival schedule, given its popularity in its inaugural year.
Ben Sloane was crowned the junior biathlon boys champion with Giulia Zanotto showing her opponents a clean pair of heels to win the junior girls title.
The competition was hot in the senior category, with Adam Waide being declared the winner in the boys category with all-round athlete Kate Woolfe the first to touch home in the girls race.
Waide continued his excellent day when he was crowned the blue ribbon champion in the 50m freestyle, with Makita Power living up to her surname to claim the pinnacle of the girl’s events.
The age championships were also eagerly contested, with Kane Simpson taking home the junior boys title, with Madhi Qannadiah too good in the senior boys contest.
Makita Power kept wracking up the wins, this time winning the junior girl age champion, with Woolfe rounding out her spectacular day as the senior girls age champion.
