THE Yenda Blueheelers have been dealt a devastating blow ahead of their heavyweight clash against Leeton, with try-scoring machine Kolo Lomu possibly ruled out for the rest of the season with a fractured hand.
The break was only detected after Yenda's loss to the Greens last weekend at Wade Park, with the speed-merchant's hand swelling badly with X-rays revealing bone fragments near the injury.
Lomu's absence will leave a hole in the Blueheelers' scoring potential given the wing and centre tops the try-scorers list for this season with 23 from 14 games.
Softening the blow is the possible return of Geff Cook, but Yenda coach Andrew Lavaka said he would give his centre until the 11th hour to prove he had overcome a knee ligament injury.
"At this stage he's still 50-50, he was running around on Tuesday, but we're still not sure if he'll play," Lavaka said of Cook's return.
"We'd love to have him back and everybody else, but at this stage we've just got to play the game with who we've got."
David Rauluni retains his position at fullback despite having a day to forget last round, when Leeton's kickers targeted the diminutive custodian in the wet and windy conditions
"A lot of people make mistakes in wet weather like it was last weekend and I'm sure a lot of other people made little mistakes as well," Lavaka said.
"There's a lot of pressure on the bloke, but I want to give him another go where he was playing, so if they target him then I'm confident he'll prove them wrong."
While the Greens got the all-important win last weekend, coach Brad Purtell said there were still several areas for his side can still improve on, despite showing impressive form at the right time of the year.
"I don't care if we it by one-point or by 40, as it turned out last weekend it was only a couple of points, but I said to the boys after
