On February 16, boxing promoter Mario Rizzeri said that question will be answered when Albert Cookie from Waratahs takes on import rugby player Willie Tavfoov from Canberra.
The two behemoths will duke it out in the ring, in a fight Rizzeri hopes will draw plenty of the local players from both codes, to help cheer on their representative.
“Two men will be stepping into the ring to prove they have what it takes in the area of courage and toughness,” Rizzeri said.
“Griffith’s rugby league representative will be Albert Cookie, known for his football ability as well as his willingness to match it with his fists who will be challenged by Canberra Royal rugby union player tough man big Willie Tavfoov.”
Rizzeri said if that wasn’t enough to whet the appetite of local fight fans, the bout between David Rauluni Jnr and Nathan Wright is set to “sizzle”.
“It’s definitely not a night to be missed, and it gets better as boxers from all over New South Wales and interstate are now in training, each wanting to prove they are the best.
“Boxing at the Exies is set to sizzle with David Rauluni Jr heading the main event with state champion and national contender Nathan Wright; what a fight that will be.”
Fifteen fights are planned for the night, including a celebrity match along with other entertainment such as singing, dancing, raffles and memorabilia auctions.
Radio’s Brad George will be calling the action in the ring, with the Exies set to shake to its foundations on Saturday, February 16 with doors opening at 6pm.
