FREIGHTLINK Transport has performed a massive second-half comeback to de-claw the Panthers at Griffith men's touch football at Ted Scobie Oval on Monday night.
The come-from-behind victory narrows the gap between the two sides in the division six competition, with Freightlink now nipping at the heels of Panthers at the top of the ladder.
Freightlink's Rhys Parsons set the tone early for his side, with plenty of fancy footwork keeping the Panthers' defence guessing.
But it was the Panthers who opened the scoring through Peter Pizzolante, with the team in white more disciplined with the ball in hand.
Panthers doubled its lead when Michael Kilby Jnr raced the length of the field to touchdown, but the big cats would soon be their own worst enemy.
After committing several silly errors coming off their own line, Freightlink capitalised on the excellent field position through Rhys Parsons for 2-1.
However, Panthers' Dylan McKenzie put the lead back to two soon after before the see-sawing battle continued with Parsons pulling off an excellent flick pass found Pizzolante for 3-2.
Two further tries to Panthers before the break, including an excellent effort by Michael Kilby Snr, saw Panthers leading 5-2 at the break.
But Freightlink began their comeback soon after the resumption with Corie Parr narrowing the gap to two, as their eagerness came against Freightlink, as they more often than not attempted to intercept the pass rather than tag the ball-carrier.
Back-to-bac k sets on their line saw the dam break eventually with Panthers' McKenzie scoring his second for the afternoon.
But that would be the last try Panthers would score, as Freightlink scored five unanswered tries through Parsons, John Myers and Tongia Fox to seal the excellent win.
