GRIFFITH squash minor premiers Hunter were unceremoniously bundled out of grand final contention when they were beaten by McLaren continuing the tradition that minor premiers rarely win in the decider.
B grade champion Jason Allen cruised to a two-nil lead over Joel Spencer but the Super Mum dug deep and won the match in five giving McLaren an early lead.
Adam Taylor gave his team a second rubber but Simon Fattore gave Hunter some hope with an impressive win against Andrew Rowe.
Craig Dredge put McLaren in a strong position by defeating Don Centofanti who was subbing up for the injured Dennis Murphy before the match of the night saw Gary Fitzgerald win a marathon against Dredge giving Hunter a second rubber.
While the scene appeared to be set for an exciting finish the luckless minor premiers conceded defeat after realising they needed to win the last rubber without dropping a point.
McLaren now meet Barossa in tomorrow night's grand final in what promises to be an exciting night of squash, with all players invited to the presentation and Christmas drinks after the games.
