A TOTAL of 61 Ferals ran at all speeds during race six on Scenic Hill last Saturday, some cleansing themselves after Christmas festivities or preparing for the night ahead.
One not showing any signs of weariness was Fletcher Josling who rounded up the field to take line honours from the back of the field in 25.49.
Josling is generally not sighted too much during the cricket season but left the rest of the runners hoping there isn't too many rained-out matches in future.
Brendon Sinclair continues to improve every week and clocked up second runner-up title this competition in 31.23mins with third placing going to our resident running machine Janet Mazzarollo in 31.49mins.
Mazzarollo continues to clock up the kilometres in preparation for an assault on the 45km six-foot track event in the Blue Mountains in March.
Fastest time of the event went to Peter Pearson in a very slick 23.53mins.
And so the winner of this competition comes down to the final race this weekend with the two-horse race of Rob Kelly and Adam Johnson who sees them only separated by 10 points.
Kelly is leading and in the box seat with Johnson needing to not only finish in the top 10 but also ensure he beats Kelly by three places.
Despite some tremendous times in recent weeks, Johnson is at a distinct disadvantage of starting nearly five minutes behind Kelly and he will hope that he is not handicapped out of the final contest following his seventh place last week.
As always the 3.1km short course is a very competitive event with only 10 seconds separating the top three.
Of the 45 runners first again this week was James McDonald in 17.58 and McDonald now has four first placing's this competition and appears to have dodged a bullet from the handicapper.
Beatrice Gesuale was only two seconds behind McDonald in 22mins but will no doubt be more wary of those sneaking up from behind next week while Ryan Altin claimed third in 14.30mins with. Anthony Trefilo taking the fastest time in 12.08mins.
