RACE goers did not have to wait long to get the news they were after, with the Carrathool Jockey Club (CJC) receiving their replacement date for their meet that was washed out last weekend.
The iconic race meet will now be held on March 6 after Racing NSW officials this week granted the replacement date.
CJC president Mick Armstrong was delighted to get the new race date so quickly, saying it allowed the committee to get back to work in re-advertising the day.
"They (Racing NSW) got back to us yesterday morning (Tuesday) so it was good they got back to us early because now we have to work out what we're going to do with advertising," Armstrong said.
"So it's pretty much business as usual, it's just a different date but I'm not sure what is actually happening with nominations for the races; I couldn't get back to Scott Kennedy from NSW Racing, but when I was talking to him yesterday he just gave me the date."
Armstrong did not believe the change in date would affect crowd numbers, adding the Labor Day long weekend in Victoria is likely to see more people from south of the border come to the tiny town.
Last weekend was a historic one for the much-loved race meeting, with the postponement the first time in its 127-year history that on-track action has not gone ahead on the day planned.
