Sevens golf
THE Summer Sevens Golf continues to draw huge support, with 552 cards returned last week resulting in 147 cards receiving awards.
The big handicap cut Robert Cavallaro received following his previous week's success did not faze him, again taking out the week's top prize, carding 27 points but only on a countback from another top achiever Jennifer Verri also 27 points.
Other high cards were also returned by Jenny Turner and Justin Whitehead 26 points, Keith Wells and Wendy Snaidero 25 points, Brendan Toscan, Paul Batia, Peter Woodward and Ralph Twaddell also helped their teams across the line, all scoring 24 points.
In the player of the year standings, Justin Whitehead has jumped away to an early lead on 23 points, Robert Cavallaro is making his move, next on 20 points followed by Jason Allen and Matt Ahamana, 17 points, Ken Weymouth 13 points.
In the ladies, Karen Howe is the clear leader on 12 points followed by Jenny Turner 9, Wendy Snaidero and Lynette Kenny 8, Susanne Alpen 7.
A number of players will have received a reality check with substantial handicap cuts, with Justin Whitehead 25, Robert Cavallaro 24, Jason Allen 20, Wayne Woods 17 and Matt Ahamana 15 also returning three reward winning cards.
With the ladies, Wendy Murwood has the biggest cut on 13, Jenny Turner and Karen Howe 12 and Wendy Snaidero 11.
In this weeks draw in division one, Golf Punks need a win over top-placed Westrac to stay in touch.
In division two, the four top teams play below them.
The biggest clash should be between Barellan Retail and the boisterous SPC Cavaso.
In division three the big clash will be between third placed Burley Bricklayers and fourth placed Seven Punters.
In division four the six top teams all play each other CBA Legends v McNabb Caltex, Griffith Farmers Assoc v Breakaways and Tree Huggers v Labelhouse.
The big clash in division five will be between Landmark Green Machine and King's Cup Devils.
Awesome Entertainment in division six will be keen to stay at the top in their clash with fifth placed Patricks One, while in division seven Muddy Insects will be keen to maintain their three-point lead over Garfe Golfers and the Widadguri Whackers would like to get an advantage over The Fuzz.
