THE final round of the Summer Sevens competition prior to the finals was played at the Griffith Golf Club last week and the wet weather had an obvious effect with 412 cards returned, resulting in 121 Pro Shop rewards paid out.
It was hot at the top with Gary Snaidero taking out the weekly prize with 23 points, pushing Wayne Stephens into second on a countback also on 23 points.
Others to lose out were Rob Cavallaro, Robert Corkery also with 23 points while the cut off was 18 points with Luke Ellis winning three rewards.
Following his last round score, Robert Cavallaro appears to have the Player of the Year sewn up on 63 points well clear of Peter Sinca 51 and John Grehan 48.
It is much the same among the ladies with Wendy Snaidero on 34 points opening up a handy nine-point lead over Jenni Overs 25, closely followed by Rose Alpen 24, Suzanne Alpen 23 and Anne Thacker 22.
Even if players teams are not in the finals, they should continue to play to have a chance to improve their position.
Rob Cavallaro appears set to also take out the Biggest Loser with a cut of 38, holding a huge advantage over Justin Whitehead 25, Jason Allen 21, followed by three players on 17, Matt Ahamana, Kevin McKenna and Josh Murray.
Any of these three players could win the ladies' section; at the moment Wendy Snaidero leads with a cut of 16, closely followed by Wendy Murwood 15 and Jenni Turner 13.
All other leader boards in both categories are on the notice board.
In last week's division one results, despite Country Credit Union recording a win over Mode Kitchens, they have missed out on the finals on a countback.
Golf Punks consolidated their position with a surprise win over Westrac, while Bardy Painters defeated the top team Hopefuls to sneak into the playoffs.
In division two, results saw Cavaso slip into the playoffs following a five-point win over Barellan Retail, pushing them out.
Team Seven jumped into second place with a win over Partee Hire, relegating them to third.
Division three results saw Knox Builders maintain their dominance in this grade, putting paid to Pinnacle Accounting's chances, allowing Awesome Water, despite a loss against Farronato's slip into the playoffs.
Seven Punters also stayed in the mix despite losing to Burley Bricklaying.
In division four, despite a one-point loss to Tree Huggers, Labelhouse made the playoffs and following CBA Legends loss to McNabb Caltex, they drop out.
In division five Ball Busters were the unlucky team after just failing to make the playoffs after a resounding win over Griffith Bearing, losing out to South West Turf 43 points who managed to beat Whackers who only recorded 20 points.
In division six, Toscans, despite a win over Awesome Entertainment which saw them both finish on 18 points, lost a place in the finals on a countback.
All the leading teams scored wins in division seven with Garfe Golfers missing a place by two points after a good win over All Girls.
The qualifying finals commence this coming Sunday, March 14.
Because of the Pro Am this week, there will be no Sevens competition.
