THE welcome rain last week saw a drop in numbers playing in the Summer Sevens at the Griffith Golf Club, with just under 500 cards returned, resulting in 87 Pro Shop rewards handed out.
John Grehan helped himself to two rewards plus the weekly best score prize after carding 27 points, while Troy Heath collected the prize for second in scoring 24 points.
Others to play well were Elio Colombo and Peter Sinca with 23 points, and 11 other players recorded 22 points with the rewards cut off being 19 points.
Robert Cavallaro continues to hold a handy lead in player of the year, though he did not add to it and will take some reeling in on 47 points.
He holds a 13-point lead over Matt Ahamana on 34 points, closely followed by Josh Grehan (33), Peter Sinca (29), Rob Rand (28) with Tony Colebon and Ken Weymouth (27) the best of the rest.
In the ladies section, Wendy Snaidero (22 points) has taken a five-point lead over Wendy Murwood (17) followed by Jenni Overs (16), Jenny Turner (15), Sue Campbell and Anne Thacker (14), who are all in with a chance.
Robert Cavallaro, with a 35 reduction of handicap, is a clear leader in this section, 10 ahead of Justin Whitehead (25). Jason Allen has rduced his by 20 with Josh Murraay (18), Matt Ahamana, Paul Curphy (both 17) in the mix.
Wendy Murwood, with a 16-shot reduction, holds a slender lead of one over Jenny Turner (15) with Wendy Sanidero (14) also right up there.
In division one matches this week, Hopefuls scored a narrow two-point win over B&D Burgulars 78-76 and as a result have now skipped to a handy five-point lead over them, 20.50 to 15.50.
Westrac is next on 12.50 following its win over Brady Painters, while Mode Kitchens lost to Darrrelea 80-74, and drops to fourth on 12 points..
Division two is being keenly contested after Coates Party Hire (16.50) narrowed the margin with a win over leaders Different Strokes (15).
Barellan Retail moved up the ladder on 14.50 after a win over Hanwood, and Team Seven defeated Hitters and Hackers to now be equal fourth with them on 12.50.
In division three Knox Builders will take some catching on 20 points followed by Seven Punters 13.50 with All Barrels Blazing slipping down the ladder on 13 following its loss to Knox Builders, Burly Builders are in fourth place on 12.50.
It is nip and tuck in division four with McNabb Caltex holding a slender lead on 17.50, followed by Farmers Association and Tree Huggers (16).
It is set for a nail biting finish in division five with Kings Cup Devils (18 points) holding a slender half-point lead over Landmark Green Machine and Bogey Hunters (both 17.50).
In division six Bendigo Power's defeat of Awesome Entertainment sees it take a 17-16 lead over it.
Muddy Insects on 21 points hold a handy lead over Harvey Norman (16.50) in division seven and The Fuzz arrested its slide with a win over Figjams,who are next on 14.50.
