THE Yenda Golf Course was in tip-top condition last Sunday for the first Guzzlers Mug for 2012 and Charles Manning made the most of the great conditions, winning the day.
Manning finished with 42 points, including course birdies on the par five 3rd and 8th, with 22 points coming on the front nine and 20 on the back.
Second on the day was Dolf Murwood with 22 out and 18 home for a total of 40 points with Adrian Murphy third after scoring 20 out and 19 home for 39 points.
Some players to score handicap birdies on the day were Coral Morrison on the 4th and 16th, Marg Vearing on the 8th, Denis Murphy on the 13th, Roni Santalucia on the 8th and 18th, and Darren Hardwick on the 9th.
Nearest the Pins went to Claude Martimbianco and Adrian Murphy with Neil Pope wining the ProPin.
Best of the lady players was Prue Watson with 38 points.
Ball prizes went down to 33 points.
Last Tuesday the Yenda vets teed-off at 7am and Ron
Smith enjoyed the early start winning the day with 39 points from Fredrick Henderson on 34 points.
Nearest the pin went to Mary Carusi and ball prizes went down to 34 points.
A reminder the Yenda Vets are teeing off at 7.30am to 8.30am for the hotter months for the year and visitors are always welcome with no need to book, just turn up. The second week of the Berton wine’s team comp has been completed with plenty of cards received and there are still a few teams not putting in the three cards needed to be able to win a round.
Official handicaps and results for the first three weeks will be posted after this week’s round.
Last week’s interim winners were Team Two who clipped the wings of the B51s, The Murphy’s who did the same to the B52s, and the old Geezers had a walk in the park over the Outside/Lefty.
Please don’t forget to check the board for your handicap and to write your name on the card.
Next week the Yenda Golf Club will hold the qualifying round for the 2012 single match competition, with the first
round to be played on January 29.
