Course begins to show its teeth before Pro-Am

24 Feb, 2010 11:53 AM
AFTER the washout last week the Yenda Golf Club got to play its Leagues Members Mug for February last Sunday and Renzo Surian showed that playing on a wet course is good practice by winning the day.

Alan Cotterill was still in good form to be runner-up, while Laurence Ciscato was third after a countback with Frank Valeri.

Nearest the pins went to Denis Murphy and Alan Hicken with Jorge Wood winning the ProPin.

Balls went down to 31 points.

Next week the Leagues Social Golf Club are coming to Yenda to take up the 4BBB challenge issued last month, and although the competition is not expected to be overwhelming, members are still encouraged to attend.

Alan Gyles and Coral Morrison are captains of the day and registration will begin at 7am, with a shotgun start at 7.45am, with lunch included as part of the $12 entry fee.

Last week's daylight saving comp was won by Neil Pope with 22 points and a reminder the competition is ongoing until the end of daylight savings and only costs $5 for the nine-hole stableford.

The Yenda Blueheelers rugby league club have booked their annual three-person ambrose for March 14 and for more information, visit the Yenda Golf Club's website soon.

Last Tuesday's Yenda Vet stableford was won by Glen Neyland with 40 points, while a three-way countback was required for second between Lidio Bisa, Roger Green and Bill Wilkinson all on 37 points.

Ball prizes went down to 35, also on a countback.

Full scores available on the clubs web site yendagolf.weebly.com.

All first-round matches of the single matchplay competition have been decided and although some second round matches have been completed, these are now not required to be finalised until March 7.

The second round matches completed last Sunday were number-one seed Billy Johnson who defeated Denis Murphy 6/5.

Johnson now goes into the third round to play Mariano Jimenez, who defeated Dolf Murwood on the 19th hole of the day.

Vince Logiudice won from Doreen Wood 5/3, which sees him also go into the third round to play either Mark Knight or Geoff Vearing.
