25 Jan 12 | A STROKE round was the order of the day in the Women’s Summer Golf Competition last Saturday and with 25 ladies lining up three division titles were up for grabs. Judy Leeson played very well to win division one with 72 nett with runner-up Kathy King a further five shots behind with 77 nett after some countbacks.
18 Jan 12 | THE Yenda Golf Course was in tip-top condition last Sunday for the first Guzzlers Mug for 2012 and Charles Manning made the most of the great conditions, winning the day. Manning finished with 42 points, including course birdies on the par five 3rd and 8th, with 22 points coming on the front nine and 20 on the back.
Graham finds form to win division one
18 Jan 12 | THERE was a host of excellent scores in division one of Griffith Ladies’ Golf last Wednesday with Liz Graham taking first place with 38 points. Runner-up was Bruna Ross, also with a good score of 37 points.
Centofanti tops the competition
11 Jan 12 | The best scores for the week in Griffith women’s golf were returned last Wednesday, with Marie Centofanti scoring a great 38 points to win Division 1. Runner-up was Denise Turner on 35 points on a count back from Elizabeth Graham.
04 Jan 12 | YVONNE Couper finished the golfing year in fine style recently with a great score of 41 points. As there were only 15 players that day, there was only one division, with Marie Centofanti the runner-up on 37 points and the score needed to win one of the five balls was 33 points.
Perfect finish to 2011 for golfers
04 Jan 12 | GOLFERS sent the old year out with a blast, playing in the New Year's Eve single stableford at the Griffith Golf Club last Saturday. It was an ideal day for scoring with a slight breeze, run on the fairways and flat putting surfaces greeted the 92 players who took full advantage.
Career on course
02 Jan 12 | WHILE he might be playing in Sydney this week, you could forgive Jake Harrison for thinking he was walking the fairways of Augusta. The talented 12-year-old will look to pit his skills against the best junior players for their age when he plays the Jack Newton Week of Golf tournament on four of the best courses Sydney has to offer.
30 Dec 11 | FIVE ladies played on Sunday, December 18 with Eppie Eade winning with a lovely 41 points, runner up was Elaine Cottom with 37 points while Liz Graham won the only ball with 35 points.
30 Dec 11 | THE Christmas Eve event at the Griffith Golf Club last Saturday was a single stableford with 85 players looking to give themselves an early present. Col Cavanagh won the A grade goodies with a card of 38 points.
