THE Griffith and District Cricket Association has received praise for the implementation of the Twenty20 C grade games last weekend.
Spectators and players were treated to some excellent displays in the shortest form of the game, with Association president Peter Davis confirming the Twenty20 games will return next year.
“Everybody we have spoken
to was really positive about the games and we’ll definitely look at having them again next year,” Davis said.
“When we were doing the draw at the start of the year, to make it balanced for both halves of the year we had a spare weekend before Christmas.
“So we decided instead of having a week off we would try something different.”
The experiment was a resounding success, with parents of players enjoying the chance to socialise while watching the future of Griffith cricket strut their stuff.
Davis said such was the positive feeling towards the shorter version of the game, the association
has floated the idea of a senior Twenty20 on February 8.
“But we will talk to all of the clubs and hopefully we can get all seven and then maybe throw the under 17 Murrumbidgee side into the mix as well,” he said.
“Even if all clubs don’t put a side in we’ll run it with six or however many come forward.”
