OFFICIALS from the Yanco-Wamoon Hawks will be called to front a specially convened Group 20 committee meeting tonight to answer why sections of video from the club's qualifying semi-final against the Waratahs Tigers two weeks ago were apparently lost.
During the game, Waratahs' Michael Vitucci was on the receiving end of a nasty spear-tackle which saw him upended to be near vertical and hit the ground head first.
As part of their duties of hosting the game the Hawks were required to keep a video record of the first grade clash, however, when asked to present a copy of the game, club officials said they could not.
In a further twist Yanco-Wamoon coach Warren Weir was quoted in last Friday's The Area News saying the side had viewed footage of the game in its preparation to play Leeton last weekend.
There are a number of outcomes possible from tonight's meeting including player suspensions and fines, but Country Rugby League regional manager David Skinner said all Group 20 clubs need to accept responsibility for their player's action on the field.
"The message we're trying to send out to all of the clubs is that we have a justice system and that you have to abide by it like it or not, and if you try and be too smart about it (avoiding penalties) then the ramifications can be a lot more severe," Skinner said.
"What we're worried about is that if any club is in trouble they just say 'oops we don't have the video'.
