JUNIOR Bradman last Saturday gave all Junior Cricketers the chance to gain experience in conditions they will remember when they further their careers in England.
Junior Bradman played their final round of matches of the year under lights at the Exies Oval. The playing conditions did not halt the run of the all conquering Walters team which hit up 2/58 to secure a good win over Pascoe who managed 10/75. Brady Chambers with 15 runs and James Harrison 14 were the pick of the Walters batsmen. Brad Plos and Mark Ritorto took a wicket each for Pascoe. Zane Hogan scored 15 runs for Pascoe and Riley Irvin, 14. Walters bowlers did a good job led by Retvin Roy with three wickets, Brady Chambers, two and Logan Testoni, two.
Marsh’s batsmen did well to score 4/88 which was good enough to beat Thompson’s 9/75. Angus Kennedy
and Andrew Bastianon both
scored 23 runs for Marsh. Dean Bennett
and Lucas Fabris picked up wickets
for Thompson. Mitchell Irvin
and Lucas Fabris gave Thompson a good start when they each scored 15 runs, but the rest of the
batsmen could not overcome the bowling of Alexander Currie and Angus Kennedy who both took two wickets.
Boon continued their good form when they scored 5/126 to post a solid win over Healy who managed 8/78. Harrison Weaven continued his good form with 36 runs and as usual got support from Bradyn Challis, Thompson Helwig and Abhishek Sandhu. Jack Rowston and Ryan McWhirter showed form with the ball to take two wickets each. These two then backed up to top score for Healy with 19 and 17 respectively. Boon also had good all round performers with Bradyn Challis
claiming three wickets and Abhishek Sandhu two.
Riley Townsend led Lillee to a good win over Chappell when he hit up 20 runs for his side. James Tilston, Josh Paton and Ryan Sweeney were the only wicket takers for Chappell. Ryan Sweeney topped off a good game by scoring 23 runs and Jordan Austin did a good job to score 14. Lillee’s wickets were spread around but new recruits Jackson Austin and Ryan Bock took a wicket each.
This week’s award winner is Jack Rowston for his 19 runs and two wickets for Healy.
Griffith cricket is about to lose a great cricketer and a popular coach of the Boon Junior Bradman team when Jason Weaven moves to Holbrook in the New Year. We wish him and his family the best of luck.
HIT FOR SIX: Harrison Weaven’s 36 runs was the highest score in Boon’s victorious game over Healy.
