Yoogali FC 1
Yoogali SC 0
THE Yoogali Football Club reserves have earned the right to contest their fourth premiership in a row after defeating Yoogali SC 1-0 in a high-energy preliminary final on Sunday afternoon.
FC coach Tony Ielasi said both teams tried to leave behind previous rivalries and get down to playing good soccer.
"I tried to wipe that rivalry out of their heads, so they didn't lose sight of what the game was actually about," he said.
"Every time we come up against SC it's a battle, but I think the team that gets on top of the other early has a good chance."
FC certainly did that, scoring a goal in the opening 15 minutes before managing to hold off a rampant SC for the remainder of the match.
The three-time premiers now look to next week's grand final against this year's minor premiers Hanwood FC.
"We're going to regroup and do more or less the same as we did this week," Ielasi said.
"There's not one certain Hanwood player we need to watch you don't get to be minor premiers without having a strong team.
"We'll keep an eye on all of them, and they'll need to keep an eye on us."
