Back at the 19th
A field of 89 players braved the cool and windy conditions to play in Saturday’s Single Stroke round and the Ham & Turkey Day.
Martin Sweeney won A grade and a ham with 69 nett to win from Graeme Trevett, who came in with 70 nett on a count-back to win himself a turkey.
Martin went out on the front nine in a one under par round of 35 with 3 birdies coming on 1st, 5th and 9th with two bogies on 4th and 6th.
He started the back nine with par but then had four straight bogies and then another on 17th, with his only birdie coming on the 16th to come with 39 off the stick.
Graeme Trevett went out on his front nine in 2 over par 38 which included a birdie on 6th and bogies on 3rd and 9th.
He crashed a little on the back nine coming home in 9 over par round of 44 with his only pars coming on the 14th and 16th.
Paul Ellis took out the B grade with a round of 88 off the stick for a nett score of 69 to win a ham from Greg Bonetti who had a nett score of 70 having 86 off the stick to win a turkey.
Paul went out on the front nine in 10 over par round of 46 with pars on 1st, 3rd, 7th and 9th but unfortunately he had an 8 on the par 4th 8th hole and a double bogey on the 2nd as well.
On the back nine he came home in 42 off the stick with his only birdie coming on the 17th, while he also had 3 more pars on the 10th, 12th and 14th.
Greg Bonetti also had a bad start going out in 9 over par 45 with his only pars coming on the 3rd, 4th and 8th while he also managed to throw in an 8 on the 6th hole.
He came home on the back nine in six over par round of 41 which included 2 on the par 4 14th for an eagle, as well as 3 pars on the 10th, 15th and 16th.
Tony Tengstrom took out the C grade Monthly Medal with a round of 96 off the stick for a nett round of 69, to win a ham from an unlucky Scott Marin who had 93 off the stick for a nett score of 70 to claim the turkey.
Tony went out on the front nine in 12 over par round of 48 with his only par coming on the 9th, while on the back nine he came in another 48 off the stick with 2 pars on 11th and 17th.
Scott Marin, who has been runner-up in C grade for the last two weeks, went out on the front nine in 50, while on the back nine he came in with 43 off the stick with a birdie on the 15th and pars on 14th and 17th.
The nearest the pins went to David Woodside 4th, Brian Savage 7th, Eric Couper 11th and Martin Sweeney 16th, while the pro pins went to Eric Couper on the 1st and Slim Cavanagh on the 15th while the vouchers went to 74 nett.
Members by now should have received the 2009 Membership renewal forms with fees due to be paid by January 31st.

A field of 52 starters took part in the Veterans Competition played in two grades. Barry Brown took out Division 1 with 41 points on a countback to win from Peter den Houting also with 41 points, while Bill Carter came in third with 40 points.
Dino Battocchio took out Division 2 with the day’s best score of 43 points to win from William Pilosio with 40 points, while Lindsay Martyn came in third with 39 points on a countback. Balls vouchers went to 35 points on a countback while next weeks competition will be played in 3 grades for Christmas prizes.
Fifty-three players braved cold and wet conditions to play in Sunday’s single stableford with Jason Newman winning A grade with 39 points from Craig Tilston with 38 points. B grade went to Enzo Basei with 43 points from Craig Hunt with 41 points, while Scott Innes won C grade with 43 points from Neville Eade with 35 points on a countback. Ball went to 33 points on a countback.
A field of 52 players took part in Wednesday’s Stroke round with Scott Rolfe winning A grade with 70 nett to win from Barrie Brown who came in with 71 nett on a countback.
Ces Spence took out B grade with 68 nett on a countback winning from Roy J Calabria with 68 nett, while Anthony Dunne also had 68 nett on a countback to win C grade from Keith Woodbridge also with 68 nett. Ball vouchers went to 72 nett.
