GRIFFITH football president Angelo Dotta has rejected Hanwood Football Club's suggestion that Daniel Alampi's reduction in sentence sets a bad precedent for the local competition.
Dotta said every case of foul play in any grade of the competition was judged on its own merits, and the outcome of the Alampi matter will not have on any bearing on any future hearings.
"Each case is looked at on its own merit, we're not a court of law. They have to remember that each case is judged on the evidence that's put forward," Dotta said.
"Judiciaries don't sit around and say 'but two years ago this happened'.
"The letter that came back to Hanwood said if they wanted to appeal then that would be their right to do so, so the ball's in their court.
"It's mandated that the people on the judiciary have to be independent, and in our by-laws it always says that you can't be on any committee."
Dotta said a group of seven to eight people are used in rotation every season in order for fresh ears to hear any new cases brought before the judiciary.
