NEW Coleambally coach Andrew McGowan has a goal in mind to turn the club's season around from last year and feature in the Farrer League finals for the first time ever in 2012.
The Blues ran eighth in their debut Farrer League season last year, winning two games from 16 rounds.
McGowan has since taken the reins from Shaun Brooker and outlined his season plan.
"We want to make finals," he said.
"We were pretty disappointed with how we performed last season and hopefully this year we can play a bit better and get the results.
"To make the grand final would be great if we can, but our main goal is just to play finals."
It will be a great achievement for Coleambally to rise from wooden spooners to Farrer League finalists, but McGowan is confident the team has the talent needed to get the job done.
The Blues have lost Brooker as well as young Will Brain to university, but will welcome back some more-than-handy players this year. Jay Pound will rejoin his brothers on the field after sitting out last year for work commitments and will add another strong body to the midfield brigade.
Brothers Jay and Hayden Heath will also make a return to the game after sitting the year out.
"We have a few local boys coming back who didn't play last year, and we haven't lost that many," McGowan said.
"A couple of young blokes have gone away to uni, but we should have basically the same outfit."
McGowan said the club was still talking to a handful of prospective signings, but had not secured any major signatures as yet.
Coleambally started training in November and took a month off over Christmas to refresh, before starting back on the park last week.
The Blues will now ramp it up with less than three months before the opening bounce. McGowan says he is training on the way back from a knee injury that robbed him of the majority of last season and plans to be available for round one in April.
