EIGHTY-five runs.
That's the statistic Hanwood hopes has been rolling around in the heads of Exies this week, as the heavyweight sides prepare to do battle once again at the start of the Griffith and District cricket two-day final series.
That figure was the amount Exies were able to score in last weekened's rain-affected one-day decider, with Hanwood looking to apply further pressure in the longer version of the game.
Hanwood skipper Jason Bertacco said while his side was pleased to knock over the strong Exies batting line-up for the low total, it did not matter if they strayed from the game plan tomorrow at Exies No. 1.
"Last week we were happy to get the trophy and even though we couldn't finish off the game we were pretty confident we could have done it, but that's in the past now and we have to move on," Bertacco said.
"But it gives our bowlers a lot of confidence because there were all right conditions at the start, so for us to come out and bowl like we did at the start was a great effort and then to back it up in the field was something that we were proud of, but we have to take it into this weekend."
All-rounder Brendan Hicken got through his work with the ball uns-cathed, with his injured knee holding up well, and he will take his pl-ace in an unchanged side tomorrow.
"Two-day cricket is a different scenario all together, it's much more mental especially for the two days back-to-back and Exies have shown they can get over that and that's one of the challenges we have to step up to," Bertacco said.
Exies captain Brent Harrison said last week's small total will not be on the minds of his top order if they walk out to the middle tomorrow, and said he was confident of winning with the side he will lead into battle.
"It's the same team from Sunday, Jamie (Winkler) is still out with his (finger) injury, but we beat them (Hanwood) in the last two-dayer we played and we knocked them over in a day, not to say we can't do it again," Harrison said.
Also weighing on the minds of the defending champions is the fact many of their team this weekend were not able to share in the glow of their grand final win last year, something Harrison said he wanted to change this year.
