IT'S crunch time again for Griffith junior basketball, with the semi-finals beginning this week with the side's efforts this season going on the line, along with places in the respective grand finals.
First up in the under 12 girls tomorrow, Demons will play GW Spiers and the Skycroppers will take on the TR Lee side, with the winners of these two finals advancing to the final next week.
The under 12s boys will take the court straight after the girls, and there should be two very close games in this division.
Fred Cole will play the Snows Excavation boys in what is going to be a great match, with game breakers on both sides, while in the other game Warburton face-off against Base Warehouse.
On paper, the Warburton boys should win, but over the past month, the Base boys have been playing great ball and an upset could be on the cards.
The under 14s sees two even games, with the Demons Blue playing the Demons White girls, with the winner earning the tag of favourite as both sides have stood out all season.
John Dodd will play the happiest side in Australia, the SPS girls, and should advance to the final.
The 16 boys semi-finals sees the TLE team take on the Colla Bros, and while TLE are outright favourite to take the flag this year, Colla Bros will come to play and TLE will have to be at their best to advance to the final week.
In the other semi-final, the Skycroppers will play the 12 year rep boys and should also get to play an extra week.
Friday night's 16-18 years competition is into its semis as well, and at 5.30pm the Griffith Tourist Caravan Park girls will play the George Duncan girls.
This game can go either way, with both teams evenly matched despite the George Duncan girls combining very well, they will take it up to the Caravan Park outfit.
The Gleam team have lost one of its better players last week to injury and will have to be at its best to topple the TLE girls in the second semi-final.
This again will be too close to call and by the end of the game, the winning team will advance after a close and very competitive game.
At 6.30pm there will be a final game for the remaining two teams in the competition for the Nugans and Country First Credit Union girls and then on court two the 16-18 boys will have another hit-out.
