LIPOSUCTION, breast implants, botox, diets, pills, powders, make-up and air brushing - these are the tricks that create the images idolised by teenage girls today.
Dannielle Miller, a leading educator in the problems facing teenage girls, is returning to Griffith to host three seminars aimed at enlightening and inspiring teenage girls and their parents to create their own image and choose their own role models.
"There are a number of things that are huge issues for girls today," Ms Miller said. "Not just body image but cyber bullying, eating disorders and a rising trend towards aggression among teenage girls today.
"The seminars aim to empower young girls and build their self-esteem so they can make their own choices."
Ms Miller's seminars will reach over 300 girls in the Griffith community over two days as she works with schools to help the city's young women with the issues they face everyday.
A seminar will also be held for parents today at the Griffith Leagues Club to educate them on how to help their daughters navigate growing up in the 21st century.
"We live in changing times and many of the issues teenage girls are dealing with today are very different to those that we dealt with growing up," Ms Miller said. "This is the most marketed to generation ever and all the images being fed to our daughters today are artificial.
"It's really important that parents are informed about what their daughter is exposed to, how it might be affecting her and for parents to be inspired to know what to do to make good choices and make this stage of life a lot easier for the girls."
The inspiring author and educator said her seminars aimed to inform parents and the girls in a fun, humourous way that is non-judgemental.
Ms Miller was named Australia's number one Emerging Leader in Learning by The Australian and one of Sydney's Top 100 Most Influential People by the Sydney magazine.
Anyone who wishes to attend the seminar being held for parents should contact Griffith Book City or Dorothy Waide Centre for Early Learning.
