IT WAS meant to be a night of celebration, a night to honour the feats of a tiny school’s most talented kids.
But the actions of a heartless thief – just a week before Christmas – have soured the end-of-year Christmas concert and presentation night and left students and staff at Binya Public School furious.
Thieves broke into Binya Community Hall on Wednesday night and stole two notebook computers, two projectors, microphones and a number of other items left over from the school’s Christmas concert and awards event earlier in the evening.
Binya Public School principal Erin Minogue said the theft would leave a huge hole in the school’s resources and implored the community to help weed out the culprits.
“Unfortunately, due to being such a small school, these are very valuable items and missing these not only limits the opportunities for our students next year, but impedes a lot of the learning our students are able to do,” Ms Minogue said.
“Our small community is very disheartened and saddened by this event. This event was our students’ Christmas concert.
“We are hoping that anyone with information will understand that this is a huge loss for our students and community and we are in desperate need to have these returned.”
The notebook computers were both Toshibas – one was all black and the other had a blue cover.
The theft is currently being investigated by police and anyone with information should call Griffith Police on 6969 4299.
