AN 18-YEAR-OLD man extradited from Canberra last week will face Griffith Local Court tomorrow charged with sexual assault.
Griffith detectives travelled to the nation's capital on Friday to secure the man after a warrant was issued for his arrest.
He appeared in an out-of-sessions hearing in Wagga Local Court on Saturday where he was refused bail and remanded in custody.
Police will allege the Griffith man sexually assaulted an 18-year-old woman at a Wakaden Street residence in the early hours of Saturday, August 21.
Local police had been searching for the man for about a week and enlisted the help of their Australian Capital Territory counterparts.
ACT detectives picked the man up last Thursday night and held him until the Griffith officers arrived the next day.
He was taken to Wagga Police Station and interviewed before being charged with one count of sexual assault.
The man is expected to reapply for bail when he fronts magistrate Peter Bugden tomorrow morning.
