IF IT'S good enough for the likes of Delta Goodrem and Keith Urban, it's good enough for the budding artists at the Riverina Childcare Centre.
Drawing inspiration from similar auctions held elsewhere, they hope their flair with paint, brushes and jeans can raise money for Jeans for Genes Day, which is a major fundraiser of the Children's Medical Research Institute.
Riverina Childcare Centre room leader Kelly Devine said she hopes parents and the wider community will consider making a bid on one of the six pairs of jeans which have been decorated for the cause.
“We thought, celebrities paint their jeans and sell them, so why can’t we?” she said.
“We have been able to get each of our rooms to paint a pair, so hopefully we can make some money for Jeans for Genes Day.
“I have heard that celebrities get up to $10,000 for theirs, we’d be happy if we can get $10.”
The Riverina Childcare Centre auction will run from Monday, August 2 until Jeans for Genes Day, which is held next Friday, August 6.
“There are children with lots of different disorders who will benefit from the research carried out because of Jeans for Genes,” Ms Devine said.
“The kids have been given freedom of creativity and had lots of fun and we are also creating awareness for an important day.”
Scientists at the Children’s Medical Research Institute are working to try to prevent a host of diseases before they occur in children, or where that is not possible to develop better treatments.
If anyone would like to place a bid on any of the jeans that are on display at the centre they can call 6962 4188. Bids will be taken all week.
