LET the countdown begin.

The posters are up, the cast is complete, the script is final and rehearsals are well underway.

Seven months in the making, Griffith – The Musical is just weeks away from opening night.

Creative producer Jasmine Blumer said while the nerves were there, everything had fallen into place.

"When I look at where we were just months ago, from the cast, the script and the music we have come a long way and everything just seems to get better and better," she said.

"We just had our first run-through and now we are sorting out the costumes, and just three weeks out we are definitely nervous but also very excited."

While outside help was sought for the musicals overall creation and direction with Canberra director Steven Bailey and dramaturg Iain Sinclair, the cast and crew involved in the production are predominately Griffith born and bred.

No detail has been overlooked, with the expertise of local advertising identity Heiko Meins called in to design the show's promotional posters.

"We thought he might just put together the normal caricature concept but instead, after reading the script, he came to us with the idea of newspaper bulletins," she said. "The concept really ties in to the script, because throughout there are references to The Area News and even a song.

"The exaggerated headlines also really highlight key themes in the musical."

Griffith – The Musical will debut on July 23, with seven shows in total including two matinees. Tickets are now available from the Griffith Regional Theatre.
