A GRIFFITH man will push his body to the limits this weekend in Sydney in the fight against poverty.
Matt Trounce is taking part in the Oxfam Trailwalker, a 100km endurance walk, run or crawl from the Hawkesbury to the Harbour.
He’s doing all this to raise money for Oxfam Australia, which works to fight poverty and injustice in 29 countries, including Australia.
“It's for such a good cause, a great challenge and the idea of working as part of a team really appealed to me,” he said. “I’ve done a few 42km marathons before but nothing like this.”
Mr Trounce, who is best known around town as Uniting Church reverend, has been training up to six times a week in preparation for the event.
His team is called Griffon after the towns the four members come from, Griffith and Picton.
“I was lucky enough to find three other men who are just as crazy as me and I’m hoping I can get a few locals to sponsor me and my team,” he said. “Donations will help Oxfam Australia achieve its vision of a fair world in which people control their own lives, their basic rights are achieved and the environment is sustained.”
