LOCAL school principals are playing their own version of musical chairs.
Two weeks into the new school year, students and parents will have noticed a number of new faces leading the way – many of whom have moved on from other schools in the area.
Among them is former Yenda Public School principal Susan Bourne, who has taken over at Griffith North Public School following Julieanne Bristow’s retirement.
Ms Bourne said she was excited to be stepping into the new role after 11 years at Yenda, including four as
principal.
“I enjoyed my time at Yenda but was just ready for a change and thought that it was time to take on a bigger school,” she said.
“Griffith North is a wonderful school.
“I’ve had a great start getting to know the parents, staff and kids.
“It will be business as usual until I get a feel for it and see what, if any, changes might need to be made.
“I’m really looking forward to the challenge ahead.”
Other changes to leadership at schools in the region
this year include at Yoogali Public School, where Nicki Callahan is replacing Monica St Baker, who is now
the acting principal at Hanwood Public School after Paul Sweeney received a promotion to Ulladulla Public School.
Meanwhile, Claire Payne has taken over the reins at Rankins Springs Public School and Deborah Morden will be in charge at Binya Public School when Katherine Brace goes on maternity leave next term.
Karen Date is the relieving principal for the first term at Yenda Public.
