MARTIN Popole has a plan.
The passionate 17-year-old wants to motivate and inspire young people in Griffith.
Armed with an idea for a new youth based project - Blits (Bringing Life into The Streets) - that's exactly what he is determined to do.
The enthusiastic teen said the project will focus on driving young people out of the streets and "give them something to do, somewhere to be and a voice to be heard".
"I'm starting slow with a demonstration at La Festa on April 3 on the youth stage from 11am to 3pm and I'll launch the project there," he said.
"I've got ideas for the kind of programs that would run, like arts, music, dance, drama and sport with guest speakers such as myself and Paul Penrith and some other well-known people.
"Blits isn't going to be just a one-off thing put together by adults for young people; it's a program for them by them.
"I just want to give young kids something to do and I think that the whole community will benefit."
He has the energy, the passion and the commitment to make it happen, now all he needs is community support.
"Many things rely on money so I have applied for some grants, but if there are any local organisations who would like to help me out with this project in any way I'd be very grateful," he said.
"My long term goal is to get a Blitz Youth Centre up and running in Griffith. I know growing up I would have loved a place like that.
"I've been to see the library and they have been great and I'll be holding a free krumping workshop there in April. I'm not looking for money or asking for favours I just need the support of the city and there has to be constant use by teens and young adults."
