Thirty-two-year-old Kuol Ngong Majok Adup, of Couch Road, Griffith, is alleged to have confronted the victim about 5.45am on Sunday and attacked her before leaving
the property.
The victim reported the incident to police and later attended Griffith Base Hospital, where she received treatment
and counselling.
Adup, a Sudanese national, has been formally charged with an aggravated break and enter with the intent to commit a serious indictable offence and sexual intercourse without consent.
It is believed the alleged victim and the accused know each other.
Bail was not applied for and was refused by Magistrate Jeff Hogg, who also ordered a non-intimate swab forensic procedure.
Adup will next appear in court on April 16 via video link.

Two police officers located an armed male, disarmed him and placed him under arrest.
Kayuaka has been charged with using a firearm under the influence of alcohol, possessing a firearm, firing a firearm and using an unauthorised firearm.
He will next appear in court on February 13.
