A BLUEPRINT for the spectacular Griffith Showgrounds makeover has revealed plans for a convention centre, children's playground and building revamp.
Key stakeholders and users of the facility were presented with a draft concept plan on Wednesday night by Insite Planning's James Marshall.
"This is not about going in and doing a wholesale redesign, but about retaining the current site for community use by improving facilities and consolidating what's already there," Mr Marshall said.
"We've got a whole lot of feedback on those designs, so we will make amendments to the draft, submit a final version to the Land and Property Management Authority (LPMA) and then issue it for public comment."
Griffith Show Society treasurer Denny Fachin said the plan proved Insite had big ideas for the land.
"James wants to upgrade everything, remove some buildings and build a fence around the arena," Mr Fachin said.
"He also suggested building a convention centre and a children's playground, as well as creating a proper roadway and pathways.
"He has some good ideas and basically consolidated what we have always said, which is to get more people using the showgrounds."
Last month Mr Marshall met with users of the site including Griffith Rotary Club, Riverina Field Days organisers, Griffith District Cricket Association and the Coro Club to canvass ideas for the makeover.
The Lands Authority, which engaged Insite Planning to create the draft, is expected to release the concept plan for public viewing in a matter of weeks.
