GRIFFITH’S Casella family will be featured in a television documentary on the ABC next month.
The family behind the multi-million dollar wine empire will share the secrets of their success on Family Confidential on Thursday, March 8.
Joe Casella, the eldest child in the family, said he had been pleased to contribute to the program.
“I haven’t seen the final product yet but, as long as the story is valid, we have no objection to the story being told,” Mr Casella said.
“It was nice to be asked to tell our story – at first we weren’t sure because we’re not the type of people who put our faces out there – but it is a good thing.”
The rise of the Casellas has not been free of controversy, with family subjected to rumours and innuendo as their profile and their flagship Yellow Tail brand grew.
The ABC said the program had given the family an opportunity to lay those rumours to rest.
“It’s an opportunity for the history to be presented to people because of the high-profile nature of the family,” middle child John Casella said.
“There is a lot of curiosity out there and it’s worth getting it out there so people get to see the whole story.”
The family will have the opportunity to view the 30-minute documentary the evening before it airs.
The Casellas are now Australia’s wealthiest winemaking family, with assets of $382 million and rising.
