Boy, 14, in iron bar attack

TWO TEENAGE boys – one only 14 – have been charged after allegedly assaulting a man with iron bars at his Barellan home this week.

Police claim the 14 and 16-year-old boys went to a home at Mulga Road, Barellan, at about 9.30pm on Wednesday armed with iron bars when the incident occured.

While at the house, the 14-year-old boy allegedly struck a

43-year-old man in the head with one of the weapons.

The 16-year-old boy allegedly swung an iron bar at a 40-year-old woman at the home, however it missed.

The teenagers fled the scene on foot.

Police and ambulance officers were quickly on the scene and the man was taken to Leeton District Hospital where he was treated for cuts to his head.

Just after midnight yesterday, police from Griffith Local Area Command arrested the two teenagers in Wilga Street.

They were taken to Leeton Police Station where they

were both charged with wound with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and using weapon in company.

They were both refused bail by police and appeared at Griffith Local Court yesterday.

During their appearance, both boys were granted bail and their cases were adjourned to reappear at Griffith Local Court on March 28.
